South Africa is as rich in food as it is in culture, though you’ll find its culinary specialties are richer in fiber than they are in calories. In fact, one study swapped the diets of Americans and South Africans, an experiment that improved bowel health for Americans and worsened it for Africans.

Or course, in a globalized economy, foods of all kinds (and nutrition levels) can be found in regions across the globe. Still, it’s hard not to admire both traditional and modern South African fare and the bloggers that share their scrumptious recipes.

From the daring to the comforting, the new to the experienced, you’ll find a wide range of influential figures in the blog world to deliver mouthwatering recipes to your screen, mouth, and stomach. Here are five you should check out now!

The Kate Tin

For dessert-specific recipes, look no further than The Kate Tin. The blog is run by Katelyn Williams, an enthusiastic and talented South African baker. The clean design sorts its recipes by type, so whether you’re in the mood for a pie, ice cream, or a pastry, you’re only two clicks away from the dessert of your dreams. Katelyn, like her blog and appetite, is unapologetically sweet. Chocoholics and dessert lovers, right this way, but (as Katelyn advises) not without your stretchy pants first.
